Crochet capybara free amigurumi pattern

Crochet cute plush capybara with this easy and beginner friendly free amigurumi pattern. The capybara amigurumi made from chenille yarn is so fluffy and soft! You can also use a cotton or acrylic yarn to get a smaller size capybara toy. This is the perfect project for beginner crocheters.

- Alize Velluto yarn (100% micropolyester; 100g/68m): #310 (beige) and #329 (brown)
- 3.5mm crochet hook
- 10mm or 12mm safety eyes for a capybara made from chenille yarn
- Some black acrylic yarn for embroidering a nose
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors

- Fiberfill stuffing

Head and body (one piece)
Start with yarn in brown color:
Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
Rnd 2: (inc)* 6 times (12)
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc)* 6 times (18)
Change to beige color:
Rnd 4-6: 18 sc (3 rounds)
Rnd 7: 2 inc, 14 sc, 2 inc (22)
Rnd 8: 2 inc, 18 sc, 2 inc (26)
Rnd 9: 11 sc, 2 dec, 11 sc (24)
Rnd 10-15: 24 sc (6 rounds)
Insert safety eyes between rounds 5 and 6. Try to put them in symmetrically.
Stuff the capybara with stuffing. Keep stuffing as you continue the last three rows as needed to make sure there is enough for the capybara to have the right shape.

Rnd 17: (1 sc, dec)* 6 times (12)

Fasten off.
Paws (make 4)
With brown color:
Rnd 1: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6)
Shape the paw so that the extra yarn (tail) from the beginning is hiding inside the paw.
Rnd 2: 6 sc
Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing to the body.
Ears (make 2)
With brown color:
Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing on to the head.
Assembly
Sew the ears on the head between rounds 8 and 9.
Attach the paws to the body as shown in the picture.
Embroider on the nose and mouth with a black acrylic yarn.
Your crochet capybara is ready!
