Amigurumi walrus free crochet pattern

Crochet cute walrus with this beginner friendly, no-sew free amigurumi pattern. The crochet whale is easy and quick to make with sweet snuggles yarn and 5.5mm crochet hook. Your finished walrus toy size depends on your tension and materials you use.

- Sweet snuggles yarn (weight 6) in shades terracotta and sand
- Weight 4 yarn in the shade white for tusks
- Weight 6 scrap black yarn for nose
- 5.5mm crochet hook
- 12mm safety eyes

Abbreviation used (US terms)

Head and body (one piece)
With main color yarn:
Rnd 1: 5 sc in a magic ring (5)
Rnd 2: (inc)* 5 times (10)
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc)* 5 times (15)
Rnd 4: 2 sc, inc, 2 sc, 7 inc, 2 sc, inc (24)
On Rnd 4 after the 3rd and 4th increase place a stitch marker to mark the center of the face.
Rnd 5-7: 24 sc (3 rounds)
Rnd 8: (2 sc, dec)* 6 times (18)
Rnd 9: 18 sc
Rnd 10: (1 sc, dec)* 6 times (12)
Insert safety eyes between Rnd 3 and 4, with approximately 3 stitches between them.
Start stuffing.
Rnd 11-12: 12 sc (2 rounds)
Rnd 13: (dec)* 6 times (6)
Finish stuffing.
Fasten off and weave yarn tail through front loops only to close the hole.


Tail fins
Insert your hook into the tail of the body. Pull yarn through the stitch and ch 3, starting in the 2nd ch from your hook, 3 hdc in one stitch. In the next stitch, 1 hdc. Ch 3 starting on the 2nd ch from your hook, 3 hdc in one stitch, 1 hdc in the last ch. Now sl st back into the starting stitch. Fasten off and hide your yarn tails.

Flippers
On Rnd 6, insert your hook towards the belly of the walrus and ch 2, starting in the 2nd ch from your hook, 3 hdc in one stitch. Sl st into the next stitch over on Rnd 7. Fasten off and hide your yarn tails. Repeat steps for the 2nd flipper. The flippers should be placed 4 stitches apart.
Whiskers
Using sand yarn:
Embroider the whiskers between Rnd 1-3. Make multiple passes to get a fuller effect. Repeat on other side for the next whisker.



Nose
Using black scrap yarn:
Embroider nose right above the whiskers.
Tusks
Using white yarn (weight #4):
Embroider the tusks between Rnd 1-4.
Make sure the whiskers are covering the top of the tusks.
