Little chicken free amigurumi pattern

This little chicken amigurumi pattern is all you need to decorate your home this spring. The cutesy chicken amigurumi would make a great addition to an Easter basket or as a kids toy. The finished size of your toy the crochet chicken is approximately 6 inches (5cm) long.

Now we divide the body in two equal parts, inserting the hook into the opposite side (each part is 21 sts).

Tail

Ch 5, sl st into the body. Then repeat this 2 more times.

Wings (make 2)

The wings are crocheted differently.

First wing
Ch 7, starting from the 2nd chain from hook work 2 sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc.
Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing.

Second wing
Ch 7, starting from the 2nd chain from hook work 2 dc, 2 hdc, 2 sc.
Using a needle stretch the yarn tail to the other end.
Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing.

Sew the wings to the sides of the body.

Comb

Attach yarn at the top of the head.
Ch 3, 1 sc into the top of the head. Then repeat 2 more times.
Fasten off and hide the yarn tail inside.

Beak

Attach yellow yarn slightly below the eyes: leave the tail of the thread sticking out to the side, as in the photo below.
Ch 3, 1 sc into the head a little above the first point. Bring the yarn tail out at the same point where the tail is sticking out. Tie the 2 tails together and hide them in the head.

Feet (make 2)

Ch 8. In the 4th chain from the hook, make a slip stitch. Ch 3 again and make sl st into the same chain. For the 3rd toe, also ch 3 and make sl st into the same chain. Now crochet 4 sc along the chain.
Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing.
